44mm-Perfect balance between weight and aero.
Light. To be ultra responsive and capable climbers. Strong. To tame dirt roads and Belgian cobbles. Aero. To master 40 MPH sprints. Stable to hold line in 30 knot winds. 44’s are the go to wheel set when you only want to have one set of wheels for all training and racing conditions.
The 44mm tubular is the all purpose carbon wheelset. No matter what type of riding you are doing, the 44mm depth with improved aerodynamic profile will be a great option for you. It's a great wheel set for climbing, descending, windy conditions, races, and even training. With the mid-depth aero rim height and improved design to handle the crosswinds these can be used even in very windy areas. With the low weight of the wheels they are a great climbing wheel set.
With the wider rim profile and mid depth, the 44mm tubular is an ideal wheelset. This wheel set was ridden to a nation championship by Hannah Arensman in wet muddy conditions this past fall in Asheville, NC!
Rim depth - 44mm
Rim width - 27mm
Rim weight - 415 grams
For cyclocross, tubular still has a major advantage over clincher. You can run lower tire pressure for better traction. You have lower weight, and the feel of a tubular tire is still better than any clincher. If you are looking for the best possible wheel set for racing cross, tubular should be your choice.
STOP WITH CONFIDENCE. . . QUICKLY
Braking is not that important. . . until it is! The cross field looks a lot different than just a few years ago. Riders quickly realized that with the hard stopping demands needed (often times in less than ideal weather), that disc brakes offer a distinct advantage. In less than a few years, the vast majority of cross racers have made the switch to disc brakes.
It's not just in the cross field where disc brakes make an improvement. With the 28mm tubulars being such a lightweight set of wheels, people are wanting to use them in the mountains. More and more road bikes are coming with disc brakes. With these wheels, you can fly up the mountains, and use the disc brakes on the way down to confidently stop in any terrain or weather condition.
