Why do I need it?

The Bracken features a modern 30mm wide alloy MTB rim that weighs only 470 grams (27.5). This makes for a rim that is light enough to be used as an upgraded XC wheel, but can be used on aggressive trail riding. Featuring a 3mm offset to balance out spoke tension, reinforced wall thicknesses, and a nipple bed rated for e-MTB.

The Bracken is only 19mm deep to give compliance while riding, and features a hookless rim profile with a thicker 1.85mm wall thickness for protection against rim dents.

The Bracken is made in our new alloy rim facility in Greenville, SC

This handcrafted wheel is laced with Pillar Wing 21 j-bend spokes and brass nipples and features a 3.0mm spoke offset to ensure better spoke balance. Three cross lacing pattern built to withstand high-torque loads, and the 32 spoke count ensures overall wheelset strength.  This wheel spins BOYD Tripel MTB hubs that feature 3.5 degrees of engagement, quick swap freehub body, press-fit end caps and is compatible with Shimano Hyperglide, Shimano Microspline, and Sram XDR cassettes. The Bracken wheelset weighs in at 1820g and is built to ride!
