Jocassee

Built for when the road gets tough . . or disappears.

Lightweight Carbon Gravel Wheels

I’ve put the Boyd Jocassee gravel wheels through their paces on single-track MTB trails, rugged gravel roads, and fast-paced group rides with road cyclists. These wheels are built to handle it all!

Built for whatever you can ride

Worry about your kids, worry about your job. . .don't worry about your wheels.

  • Rim structure

The Jocassee is built to be the ultimate gravel adventure wheel. A very detailed rim layup and combination of aerospace grade carbon fiber allows for a rim that weighs just 322 grams, yet can handle the rough gravel roads or even singletrack.

Offset rim bed allows for more even spoke tension to keep your wheels in true and running strong.

  • Handbuilt, stress-relieved, re-tensioned

The build process matters as much as the parts. We use multiple tension cycles, stress relief, and final balance checks. Your wheels will remain running true.

  • Grade 54 Hubs

The easy to service Grade 54 featuring a ratchet mechanism is built for handling high torque loads. Weatherproof seals, and shielded bearings means the wheels continue to perform, even when riding long miles in poor conditions. At just 270 grams for the set, the Grade 54 hubs help to lighten up your ride.

  • Built for volume

Modern gravel bikes are running larger and larger tires. The 26mm internal width of the Jocassee pairs perfectly to larger tires. Run lower pressure, ride rougher roads, go on a new adventure. The Jocassee was built to handle this

Carbon Rims

Every cut and ply of carbon plays a story in how a rim responds. Aerospace grade carbon is used in strategic places for increased strength with bringing the rim weight down to just 322 grams

Grade 54 Hubs

The new Grade 54 hubs are the most advanced hubs we've ever created. Weighing just 270 grams for the set, the hubs feature a ratchet drive system with 54 teeth and just 6.6 degrees of engagement

Enduro Bearings

The Enduro ABEC 5 bearings provide exceptional precision and durability, ensuring that the hub operates smoothly under the most demanding conditions.

Handbuilt

Every wheel goes through 5 different work centers, before being QCed for true, run out, and spoke tension. This ensures every wheel will keep running as true as the day you received them.

BEHIND THE NAME: JOCASSEE

Jocassee (Joe-Cass-EE) is a heritage preserve in the Northwest corner of South Carolina. Containing over 100 miles of gravel roads, Jocassee is a favorite of cyclists looking for a very difficult gravel ride. Founder, Boyd Johnson, started riding in Jocassee on a road bike with 25mm tires in the early 2010s (not highly recommended at all!). Over time gravel started to emerge as a discipline, people migrated to cyclocross bikes, followed by gravel specific bikes.
