Tubeless Wingnut

Like all good stories, this one starts off with a mountain bike ride gone wrong. Boyd and a friend were out riding mountain bikes in DuPont. With daylight dwindling, the question was asked. . ."Do we have time for one more downhill?". The obvious answer was "Of Course", but an untimely flat tire and a wheel full of old dried up sealant meant resorting to the use of an inner tube. There was just one problem, the valve nut on the tubeless valves was seized into place. . .. very seized!

No matter what, the valve nut was not coming off. With no pliers handy, Boyd finally picked up two rocks and got enough friction to loosen the valve nut just enough. "Why has nobody ever made this a wingnut? Wait, we can make a wingnut!" the lightbulb turned on. The riders made it back to the car as darkness approached. Boyd drew up the wingnut, had samples made, and debuted them at a trade show, earning praise as "The 5 coolest things at Interbike" according to Bikeradar.

To this day, the wingnut is a favorite for many riders, and comes standard on all Boyd tubeless valves. Many riders request just the wingnuts by themselves. This pair of wingnuts will work with any standard threaded tubeless valve.

The wingnuts should face so the round shelf faces towards the rim, preventing the oblong shape from making contact with the curvature of the rim. Tighten by hand, loosen by hand, don't resort to using rocks as bushcraft pliers!
