Is this wheel right for you?
BEST FOR
Gravel racers who want a real aero advantage
Fast, flat-to-rolling gravel courses where speed is held for hours
Running modern gravel race tires, 40mm and up
Riders who want one wheel that is aero, light enough to climb, and strong enough for rough sectors
Stepping up from a shallow gravel wheel to a dedicated race setup
NOT IDEAL FOR
Riders who want the lightest gravel wheel for long climbing days (see Jocassee)
Road riding on tires narrower than 40mm (see the 55 Road Disc SL)
Riders whose gravel regularly looks like mountain biking (see Reiver)
What cyclists are saying.

1st Place - Gravel Battle of Sumter Forest
"The new freehub body hooks up immediately, and the wheels translate that into instant acceleration. This is my third set of Boyd wheels and by far my favorite.”

How We Got a 55mm Gravel Wheel to 1354g
1 - Performance Targets First
Aero efficiency, impact resistance, and stiffness locked in before any weight comes out.
2 - Rim architecture
A 55mm deep, 33mm wide hookless profile shaped around modern gravel tires, so the tire and rim work as one aero shape. 28mm internal width supports 40mm+ tires at low pressure.
3 - Carbon layup strategy
T1000 aerospace-grade carbon placed where gravel impacts and aero loads actually land, not spread evenly just to hit a number. The result is a 410g rim at 55mm deep.
4 - Dimensional control + QC
Bead seat, ERD, and critical interfaces inspected so every build starts true.
5 - Spoke & tension plan
Pillar Wing 20 spokes, 24 front and rear, chosen for long-term stability and easy service, not the lightest spec sheet.
6 - Handbuilt, stress-relieved
Multiple tension cycles, stress relief, and final balance checks. Stays true at race pace on rough roads.
7 - Validation testing
150J impact resistance, fatigue, and tire pressure testing, plus real racing on real gravel.
8 - Final inspection
Runout, dish, tension balance, hub function, tubeless check. Then ships.
Unreal Strength. Minimal Weight.
Constructed with T1000 aerospace-grade carbon fiber, the Pinnacle Race delivers a level of durability rarely seen in gravel wheels.
- 150 joules of impact resistance—on par with enduro MTB wheels
- Just 410 grams per rim
It’s the kind of strength that lets you commit—fully—when the terrain gets rough.
Light Enough to Win
Despite its deep profile and massive strength, the Pinnacle Race weighs just 1354 grams for the complete wheelset.
That means:
- Faster accelerations out of corners
- More efficient climbing
- Less fatigue over long distances
You’re not dragging weight—you’re carrying speed
Built to Race. Built to Last.
Every Pinnacle Race wheelset is:
- Hand-built for precision and reliability
- Backed by a lifetime warranty
- Designed to handle the demands of elite racing and relentless training
This isn’t just a race-day wheel—it’s a season-long weapon.
Every part earns its place.
Grade 54 Hubs
The new Grade 54 hubs are the most advanced hubs we've ever created. Weighing just 270 grams for the set, the hubs feature a ratchet drive system with 54 teeth and just 6.6 degrees of engagement
