SIXTUS MTB HUBS
0.5 Degrees of Engagement. Built for Chaos.
A next-generation gravity hub engineered for instant engagement, low coasting drag, eBike-rated durability, and zero hesitation when the trail turns violent.

Engineered for riders who demand instant response, massive durability, and zero hesitation when the trail turns violent.
The all-new Sixtus MTB hub platform strips away the lag from gravity, Enduro, and eMTB performance. Replacing the legendary Tripel hub, it rewrites what high-engagement hubs are capable of when handling raw torque and absolute chaos.
Built for the Way You Ride
From blown-out bike park laps to freeride lines that shouldn’t be rideable, the Sixtus was engineered to keep up with riders who push harder, ride faster, and refuse to wait for their hubs to catch up.
Three reasons Sixtus is different
612 Points of Engagement
At the absolute core of the Sixtus is a wildly fast 0.5-degree engagement system. Whether you are ratcheting through vertical rock gardens or sprinting hard out of blown-out corners, your power hits the dirt instantly.
Low Freehub Drag
Most ultra-high-engagement hubs feel slow and draggy when you're coasting. The Sixtus changes everything—engineered internally to eliminate excessive drag so you stay fast when you're off the gas.
E-Bike Rated
Equipped with wider pawl profiles to increase total surface contact against the heavy-duty 102-tooth driver ring. This optimized distribution allows the system to easily handle brutal torque and aggressive gravity abuse.
The Steel Phasing Ring Breakthrough
The genius layout relies on a unique steel phasing ring surrounding the 6-pawl mechanism. Instead of forcing all six pawls to smash down simultaneously, this ring strategically staggers pawl engagement.
The result is mind-blowing 0.5-degree instant engagement without the heavy coasting friction of traditional high-engagement designs.
Prefer the Tripel feel?
An optional lightweight aluminum freehub body is available without the steel phasing ring. This config sheds roughly 35 grams and forces simultaneous engagement, providing the aggressive 3-degree response found in the original Tripel hubs.

Proven on the World Stage
Tested and ridden hard at the absolute limit. Elite racers Bex Barona and Chloe Taylor are campaigning the Sixtus platform on the grueling UCI World Cup EDR circuit, while freeride icon Olly Wilkins relies on Sixtus-equipped Kanuga FF wheels for his wildest global projects.
“This hub was built for riders who smash into rock gardens, land sideways, pedal through compressions, and expect their equipment to respond instantly every single time. We wanted the fastest engagement possible, but we refused to accept the drag and harshness that usually comes with it.”
– Boyd Johnson, Founder of Boyd Cycling
The Story Behind the Name
Our original hub owed its title to Boyd Johnson’s fondness for Belgian Tripel style beers. To mark a massive evolutionary step forward for its successor, we looked to the absolute peak of brewing mastery: Sint Sixtus Westvleteren. Universally recognized as one of the most exclusive and highest-rated beers on earth, it is crafted with obsessive care under the direct supervision of the monks of Sint-Sixtus Abbey. We engineered the Sixtus MTB hub to live up to that exact same standard of exclusivity and perfection.
